FROSTPROOF, Fla. — Former MU employee Thelma L. Halbert of Frostproof, Fla., died Thursday, June 7, 2012. She was 89.
She was born Jan. 25, 1923, in Boone County to Ora and Abbie (Griffin) Ankrom.
She married Raymond R. Halbert.
Mrs. Halbert was a long-time member of Grandview Baptist Church in Centralia, where she sang in the choir.
In 1985, she moved from Lake of the Ozarks to Frostproof, Fla. There she joined the First Baptist Church of Frostproof.
In addition to singing in her church's choir, Mrs. Halbert enjoyed gardening and traveling.
Mrs. Halbert is survived by a sister, Mary Grace Kircher, of New Franklin, Mo.; a son, Buddie J. Halbert, and wife, Relda, of Tallahassee, Fla.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond R. Halbert, in 2009, and a son, Anthony "Tony" Halbert, in 1995.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 W. Services will follow at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
