The Newman Center is hosting "Win the World for Jesus" Vacation Bible School July 9-13.

Catherine DiPietre is the director of religious education for St. Thomas More Newman Center.

The St. Thomas More Newman Center and Parish would like to invite all kids from age 3 to fifth grade to our “Win the World for Jesus” Vacation Bible School.

Event information

Where: St. Thomas More Newman Center and Parish, 602 Turner Ave.

When: July 9-13 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Who: PreK (3 years old) to fifth grade. Babysitting available for siblings under the age of 3.

Cost: $35 per child for the week; $10 for babysitting for the week.

During the week of July 9, kids will explore the virtue of ZEAL FOR SOULS through games and activity adventures centered around the exciting exploits of historic missionaries to the New World. Each day a different missionary saint to the New World is presented. Songs, games, crafts, lessons and even snacks reinforce different aspects of how to live the virtue of ZEAL FOR SOULS.

On the last day, K4J kids (Kids for Jesus) hold their own special Fiesta EXPO where they present the lessons they learned to their family and friends.

The excitement starts each day with the kids gathering for an Exploration Hall Assembly. There they learn who the saint of the day is and hear the saint's story through skit and song. After the assembly, kids break in to age appropriate groups to continue their exploration of the K4J Hero of the day.

The kids travel to five stations: Missionaries in Motion, Get Moving Games, Cool Crafts, Snack, and Expo Prep — each offering a different approach to the virtue of the day! After the kids have attended each station they gather back in the Exploration Hall to recap the day’s lesson.

From message in a bottle crafts and log cabin snack to the Mary of Guadalupe Hat Dance and Arrows of the truth activity; kids will learn to be true Missionaries for Jesus.
