SPRINGFIELD — Gov. Jay Nixon has chosen Springfield for a signing ceremony for another part of Missouri's $24 billion budget.
Nixon planned to sign legislation Thursday funding the Department of Mental Health and the Department of Health and Senior Services.
The ceremony was taking place at an autism center to highlight a funding provision that Nixon says will extend autism services to an additional 375 children.
Earlier this week, Nixon signed a budget bill that funds the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Missouri's 2013 budget year begins July 1. Nixon has yet to say whether he will cut funding for any state programs and services.
