Friday was Take Your Dog to Work Day, a day set aside by Pet Sitters International to promote adoption from humane societies, animal shelters and breed rescue clubs. The Missourian asked readers on Facebook to share photos of the pooches they brought to work, and added the photos to their album "Dogs Missourian readers love" — an album started when the Columbia Kennel Club Dog Show came to town this spring.
Jeanne Abbott, the Missourian's managing editor, even joined in on the fun by bringing her 5-year-old wheaten terrier, Tucker, to the newsroom. He didn't enjoy getting reporting assignments but loved all the attention the newsroom gave him for being such a newshound.
If you have a photo of a dog you love or a picture of the pooch at work, we'd love to see it. Here's how you can submit the photo:
Tweet them to us at @CoMissourian.
Post them on the Missourian's Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ColumbiaMissourian or tag Columbia Missourian if you've posted photos of your dog in the past.
This story is part of a section of the Missourian called From Readers, which is dedicated to your voices and your stories. We hope you'll consider sharing. Here's how. Supervising editor is Joy Mayer.
