Cantwell qualifies for Olympic team

Christian Cantwell is a former shot putter for MU. He has qualified for the 2012 Olympics.
Former MU shot putter Christian Cantwell qualified for the London Olympics on Sunday.
This will be his second time on the U.S. Olympic team. He finished in third place at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Ore.
Cantwell threw 69 feet, 9 3/4 inches to qualify for the London Olympics this summer.
Cantwell finished second in the shot put at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. During his time at MU, Cantwell was a seven-time collegiate All-American.
The top three shot put competitors qualified for the U.S. Olympic team. Cantwell finished behind Reese Hoffa, who won the competition with a throw of 72 feet, 2 1/4 inches, and Ryan Whiting, who finished second with a throw of 71 feet, 3/4 inches.
