What to bring and what to leave

COLUMBIA  — Every year students bring items that either won’t fit or aren't allowed in the residence hall.

Here’s a list of things that are commonly forgotten and a list of what should be left at home:


  • Social Security card
  • Insurance cards
  • Stapler
  • Scissors
  • Dishes
  • Flash drive
  • HDMI cords
  • Calculator and batteries
  • Umbrella/rain boots
  • Febreze
  • Paper towels


  • Candles
  • Whiteboards
  • Space heaters
  • Alcohol and drug paraphernalia
  • Spider-plug outlet multipliers
  • Octopus lamps
