COLUMBIA — A stretch of West Boulevard was closed Monday while the Columbia Fire Department responded to reports of a gas leak.

Captain John Metz of the Columbia Fire Department said the leak resulted when a contractor in the area struck a gas line. Upon arrival, firefighters shut off the gas lines. West Boulevard was closed from Ash Street to Business Loop 70 for two hours.

There were no injuries during the incident, Metz said.
