Ryan Schmidt, former pitcher and outfielder for the Rock Bridge Bruins, is giving hitting, pitching and fielding lessons this summer.

Ryan Schmidt is a former Daniel Boone Little Leaguer and All-Star. This summer he is giving hitting, pitching and fielding lessons to area baseball players before attending William Woods University in the fall on baseball and academic scholarships.

My name is Ryan Schmidt. I am a former Daniel Boone Little Leaguer (5 to 16 years of age) and Daniel Boone Little League All-Star. I pitched and played outfield and first base for the 2006 team that went to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa., the 2008 team that went to the Fort Wayne (Ind.) Juniors Regionals and the 2010 team that competed in the Columbia Seniors Regionals.

I was a three-year starting pitcher and two-year starting outfielder at Rock Bridge High School. This past season I helped Rock Bridge win a district championship. My 60 strikeouts (versus only 15 walks) is fifth best all-time in Rock Bridge's nearly 40-year existence. In addition, I earned First Team Academic All-State my junior and senior years at Rock Bridge. This fall, I will play baseball at William Woods University in Fulton on baseball and academic scholarships.

Playing baseball at Daniel Boone Little League had a positive impact on me. It gave me a chance to play baseball with my friends and classmates during the regular seasons and also the opportunity to represent the state of Missouri in three different regional tournaments and represent the Midwest at the Little League World Series.

I believe playing baseball at Daniel Boone helped prepare me to be the best player I could be at Rock Bridge and helped me earn a baseball scholarship at William Woods. Because of my great experience at Daniel Boone, I am giving something back to help today's little leaguers have positive youth baseball experiences by allowing them to learn the right and safe way to play the game. That is why I started giving one-on-one hitting, pitching and fielding lessons to area baseball players this summer at the Daniel Boone Little League Complex.

Through my work with young baseball players this summer, I have really emphasized:

I work with players of all ages. My rates are:

My goal is to continue instructing young players on the fundamentals of the game for at least the next four summers at Daniel Boone while I am in college.
