Event organizers and participants in the Paxton Keeley 5K Run/Walk presented Ronald McDonald House Charities of Mid-Missouri with a donation check for $2377.26.
More than 100 people participated in the 5K event held in May. Additionally, approximately half of the participants were under the age of 16. Race sponsors included Hy-Vee, El Maguey, Jason Thornhill of Weichert Realtors, Focus on Health Chiropractic, McCormick's Home Improvement and Walther, Antel, Stamper & Fischer Attorneys at Law. Parents, teachers and community volunteers, including employees from IBM and the National Guard, provided support for the run/walk course.
The 5K overall winner was Tom May, 45, with a time of 18:46.5. In second place was Columbia Public Schools student Nathan Haile, with a time of 19:08.6.
