COLUMBIA — Police arrested Edward Brown, 32, on Thursday in connection with a robbery that occurred Tuesday evening.

The robbery occurred around 10:30 p.m. at 2600 Jacobs Place. After dropping off a neighbor at the address, a man was approached by three other men, who assaulted and robbed him, said Public Information Officer Latisha Stroer of the Columbia Police Department in an email.

Two of the suspects had handguns, and they forced the man into the trunk of his own car, entered his apartment and assaulted his wife, Stroer said. After the suspects drove away in a black vehicle, the man escaped the trunk by pulling the trunk release, Stroer said.

Officers arrested Brown at 7:10 p.m. Thursday at 1415 Raleigh Drive. Brown is charged with felonious restraint with a $4,500 bond, armed criminal action and first-degree robbery with bonds that were not set as of 1:05 p.m. Friday, Stroer said.

Supervising editor is Jake Kreinberg.
