COLUMBIA — The identity of the woman who died Saturday while swimming in the Lake of the Ozarks has been released by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Jennifer Lankford, 26, of Hazelwood, apparently died of electrocution after she touched the dock near where she and two children were swimming, said Sgt. Paul Reinsch of the highway patrol.

The two children swam away from the dock and were not injured.

No further details were available Monday morning.

"We want to educate people that if they feel electricity in the water to swim away from the dock," Reinsch said.

All three were taken to Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach.

The incident occurred around 7:45 p.m. Saturday at Dry Branch Cove in Morgan County, three days after two children from Ashland were electrocuted while swimming at Gravois Arm.

Reinsch said there had reportedly been problems with the Dry Branch Cove dock earlier in the week, but he said he had not yet spoken to investigators in detail about Saturday's fatal accident.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
