KANSAS CITY — Vice President Joe Biden is helping raise money for the re-election campaign of Democratic U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill.

Biden attended a private fundraiser Monday in Kansas City with McCaskill. While in town, his wife, Jill Biden, held a public discussion with members of the Missouri National Guard.

McCaskill is unopposed in the Aug. 7 Democratic primary. She is likely to face one of three leading Republican candidates: businessman John Brunner, former state Treasurer Sarah Steelman or U.S. Rep. Todd Akin.
