Brookside fire investigation continues; cause remains undetermined

COLUMBIA — The cause of the May 27 fire at Brookside on College remains undetermined, the Columbia Fire Department said in a news release issued Wednesday.

Investigators have determined that the fire started in the structure's southeast corner.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the Columbia Police Department and the state fire marshal's office worked together to try to determine the cause of the fire.

Officials said the investigation will continue, and officials ask anyone with related information, photos or videos to contact investigators. Contact the city's fire marshal's division at 874-7566 or call Crime Stoppers at 875-TIPS if you have information about the fire.
