COLUMBIA — A boil advisory has been issued for an area of Rock Bridge Estates due to a water main break.

Bob Leonard, general manager of the Consolidated Public Water Supply District No. 1, said a contractor broke into the water main on Catherine Drive.

The company has fixed the water break and turned the water back on. However, in order to ensure the water is safe, they are advising people to boil the water for cooking and drinking use for the next 48 hours, Leonard said.

Forty-eight customers on Catherine Drive and a portion of Chris Drive are affected, Leonard said. The water company has sent out door knockers to inform customers about the boil advisory.
