No suspects in Wednesday morning shooting on S. Providence Road

COLUMBIA — The victim of a Wednesday morning shooting is in critical condition, and Columbia police are hoping he will be able to help them find his assailant.

The victim is 21, and police have not released his name.

Police were called about a gunshot wound and dispatched to a residence in the Providence Hill Apartment Complex located south of Research Park Drive at 4:59 a.m.

The department is still looking for suspects. No arrests have been made.

Columbia Police Officer Latisha Stroer said there is little information at this time.

"Unfortunately, we can't talk to (the victim)," she said.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Columbia Police Department or CrimeStoppers at 875-TIPS (8477).
