One dead in plane crash near Huntsville

COLUMBIA — One person died in a northern Missouri plane crash Friday.

Sgt. Brent Bernhardt of the Missouri State Highway Patrol said the plane was a crop duster and crashed into a cornfield off Route C north of Huntsville. The cause of the accident was unknown as of 1:30 p.m. Friday.

Bernhardt said the Highway Patrol was dispatched and on the scene immediately.

The name of the deceased was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
