9-year-old girl shot by brother in southeast Missouri

SIKESTON— A 12-year-old Missouri boy is arrested for shooting his 9-year-old sister, and the father of the children is also facing charges.

The girl is expected to recover after being shot in the shoulder Sunday evening in Sikeston. Police told KFVS-TV that the two children were in their father's bedroom when the boy picked up a loaded pistol and shot his sister. Police are still trying to determine if the shooting was accidental or intentional.

The father faces child endangerment charges, but his name has not been released. The boy's name and details about his charges have also not been released.
