Robert L. O'Bannon, Feb. 13, 1930 — July 15, 2012, of Columbia

Robert L. O’Bannon, 82, of Columbia, died July 15, 2012, at his home. Private graveside services will be held Thursday, July 19, 2012, at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Robert was born February 13, 1930, to John and Cytha O’Bannon in Pattonville, MO.

Robert is survived by three brothers: John F. O’Bannon of Fulton, MO, Donald G. O’Bannon and Larry D. O’Bannon, both of Columbia; one sister: Iris D. Rumbaugh of Hallsville, MO; six nephews and eight nieces.

Mr. O’Bannon was a Korean War Veteran serving in the Air Force from June 30, 1948, until June 29, 1952. Robert was a member of American Legion Post 202. In 1957, Mr. O’Bannon became a member of St. Louis Ironworkers Local 396. In 1972, he received a spinal cord injury from a work-related accident, causing him to become paraplegic. He retired on disability, but remained a member of the Ironworkers until his death.
