FAIR IN THE MAKING: MU student prepares to show cattle at Boone County Fair

Monday, July 16, 2012 | 9:16 p.m. CDT; updated 10:08 p.m. CDT, Monday, July 16, 2012
FFA Organization and 4-H member Brianne Abramovitz shows her cattle all over Missouri, including at the Boone County Fair.

This is the first in a series of photo stories about mid-Missouri residents who have been preparing for this year's Boone County Fair.

COLUMBIA – Brianne Abramovitz has been showing cattle since she was 10 years old.

A typical morning for Abramovitz, who is nearing age 21, includes bringing the show cattle into the barn, then feeding, bathing, grooming and drying them. All this is done by about 9 a.m.

After she turns 21, she will no longer be able to show cattle, except at the national level and some select open classes.

She will continue to stay involved with breeding through the family business, AbraKadabra Cattle, and is pursuing a degree in veterinary medicine at MU.

The Boone County Fair will be July 24–28 at the Central Missouri Event Center, 5212 N. Oakland Gravel Road.
