KIMBERLING CITY — A 23-year-old man from Texas man drowned after jumping off a boat at Table Rock Lake in southern Missouri.

The Missouri State Water Patrol said Gbenga Y. Afolabi of Houston drowned Tuesday at the lake.

The patrol said Afolabi started having trouble as soon as he jumped from a boat into the lake just northeast of the state park marina.

The boat's driver threw Afolabi a flotation device but he lost his grip on it and went under the water.

Afolabi's body was recovered from the lake about two hours after he jumped from the boat.
