COLUMBIA — The Show-Me State Games began with an opening ceremony held at the Hearnes Center on Friday. Truman the Tiger made an appearance and welcomed athletes into the arena. Local athletes also lit a cauldron at the beginning of the ceremony, similar to the lighting of the Olympic Torch.
