Boone County Fair schedule

Monday, July 23, 2012 | 5:11 p.m. CDT; updated 10:01 a.m. CDT, Wednesday, July 25, 2012
Pee Wee Showmanship was held Monday at the Boone County Fair. Members of Clover Kids, a 4-H program for children under 8, participate in the competition with their animals.

COLUMBIA — The 2012 Boone County Fair, themed "A Whole New Fair," is set to kick off Tuesday.

"We’ve changed everything," Boone County Fair organizer Tracy Mulligan said. "It's a new carnival. We have new promoters for our acts, new entertainment, new everything."

Other major changes to the fair include shortening its duration from 11 to five days and changing the gate admission system, which will give visitors the chance to see every event for a flat rate of $10 daily or $40 for the entire fair.

Prices for the Boone County Fair have been cut in half to make the event more accessible to families, Mulligan said. The only additional costs families will have to cover are food from vendors or passes for carnival rides.

A new provider means this year's selection of carnival rides is also completely new. For $15, visitors can ride any of the 20 rides available — including the Nemesis 360, one of only two in the country — from 4 to 10 p.m.

"I am really looking forward to it. I am excited for the changes," Mulligan said, "I sure hope everybody can see the changes and enjoy them as much as I have."

Listed below is the full Boone County Fair schedule. It is also available on the Boone County Fair website.
