CAMDENTON — A southwest Missouri horse rescue operation needs hay for its horses during the current drought.
The Forget-Me-Not Missouri Horse Rescue and Sanctuary in Linn Creek rescues horses that are abused or no longer wanted. Its owner, Connie Hendrix, said the drought has cut into the supply of hay for the horses, which are already eating their winter hay supply.
Hendrix told the Lake Sun Leader that she needs hay donations or funds to buy the feed.
Nearly every horse at the sanctuary is rehabilitated and offered for adoption, with the rest staying at the farm near Linn Creek. Hendrix estimates she has placed between 20 and 30 horses in homes since she began the rescues 15 years ago.
She supports the sanctuary with proceeds from her dog grooming business.
