UPDATE: Brookside fire investigation still ongoing

COLUMBIA — The cause of the fire that occurred at Brookside on College is still undetermined, according to a news release the Columbia Fire Department issued Friday.

The investigation into the May 27 fire at the apartment complex, located at 1221 E. Walnut St., is ongoing, according to the release.

The Fire Department asks anyone with information, photos or video to contact Crime Stoppers at 875-8477 or the Fire Marshal's Division at 874-7556.

Thanks for the update. Is there a reason it took the CFD this long to put this report out? Does the CPD also put out a report on the investigation? If so, have they posted it anywhere? Many people in the community have been wondering about the status of the investigation and why there hadn't been a press release earlier.
