LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Nancy Copenhaver is a strong advocate for education

Monday, July 30, 2012 | 5:22 p.m. CDT; updated 5:46 p.m. CDT, Monday, July 30, 2012

I am writing in support of Nancy Copenhaver, Democratic candidate for the 47th district state representative.

Nancy has been actively involved for more than 30 years at the local and state levels in many organizations which have given her a broad base of knowledge about the issues that impact us all.

As a professional educator, she is a tireless advocate for public education. Her concern for "the greater good" is evidenced by her years of public service to organizations such as Caring Communities and Parents as Teachers. Additionally, she has served as a city councilwoman, deputy county clerk for Randolph County and the Moberly P&Z Commission. As a state legislator, she demonstrated the ability to be a bipartisan collaborator working for improvements in nursing home care and funding for schools and technology.

During my 30 years as an education professional (including 23 years as a Columbia Public Schools teacher), I have not worked with or encountered a stronger advocate for Missouri's teachers and students.

By her long record of community service experience, Nancy Copenhaver demonstrates the knowledge and personal qualifications essential to be our representative. Please vote in August for Nancy Copenhaver, Democratic candidate for the 47th district.
