COLUMBIA — The community is invited to celebrate the life of MU student Aditi Avhad in Memorial Union, where the Cultural Association of India will hold a public memorial service beginning at 7 p.m. Friday.

Avhad died Thursday night when the Megabus she was riding to Columbia struck a support column on an Illinois interstate.

Avhad was enrolled in MU's health administration graduate program and maintained a 4.0 GPA. But her peers say hard work is only part of what she'll be remembered for.

“Aditi was a girl who was always smiling and brought so much joy to us all,” said Nikhil Tindal, president of the Cultural Association of India. “We have lost a wonderful, dear friend.”
