COLUMBIA — RouteShout, an app that will help riders track buses on the FastCAT route, isn't operational yet.

FastCAT began operation at 6:30 a.m. Monday as scheduled, but according to a news release, the app would not display data from GPS systems installed on the buses used for the route.

City staff worked through the weekend to resolve the technical issue before the route's launch, the release stated.

Public information specialist Steven Sapp of the Public Works Department said transit officials will continue to work with RouteShout and AT&T until the app is up and running.

"We're shooting for the end of the week," Sapp said.

In the meantime, riders can find a schedule and a list of FastCAT stops at Sapp said riders should be able to catch a FastCAT bus at any of the route's stops every 15 minutes.

The new route will be free to all users from Monday through Aug. 27.
