COLUMBIA — Brian Cook knew how to hack a computer, but he used that knowledge for good, not evil.
Mr. Cook was a certified ethical hacker, his family said. He worked to protect clients from computer hacking.
Brian Dale Cook died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012. He was 44.
Mr. Cook was born on Feb. 5, 1968, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Dale and Bobbi (Hunt) Cook.
Aside from technology, Mr. Cook was also a fan of the Steelers football team.
Mr. Cook is survived by his mother, Bobbi Everitt, and her husband, Chuck, of Columbia; his father, Dale Cook, and his wife, Phyllis, of Glendale, Ariz.; a nephew, Brandon Cook, of Glendale, Ariz.; a niece, Marissa Cook, of Glendale, Ariz.; three uncles, Kenny Cook of Columbia, Lyle Cook of Arizona, and Gary Cook; an aunt, Donna Knottingham; two stepbrother, Kevin Cook, and his wife, Michelle, of Glendale, Ariz., and Todd Everitt, and his wife, Paulette, of Columbia; and a stepsister, Marcia Spruytte, and her husband, Phillip, of Lenexa, Kan.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 W. Entombment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family requests that no suits or ties be worn for the casual services.
