Sandra Kormeier, May 11, 1943 — Aug. 16, 2012, of Columbia

Sandra D. Kormeier, 69, of Columbia died peacefully on Thursday, August 16, 2012.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at 3 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors from 1 p.m. until the service time. Please wear bright colors!

Sandi was born May 11, 1943, in Reading, PA, to E. Forrest and Mary Amanda Haines.

She graduated from Reading High School in 1961, Reading Hospital School of Nursing in 1964, and attended the University of Missouri, Stephens College, and Ottowa University. She was a Registered Nurse, and she worked for William D. Trumbower, MD, and Women’s Health Associates. She was actively involved in childbirth education and women’s healthcare for over 30 years. Sandi retired after 44 years of nursing in November 2007.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Krisan Pendleton (Dave) of McMinnville, Oregon; Katrice Montgomery (Rick) of Columbia, Missouri; Korinne Borszcz (Matt) of Bellbrook, Ohio; a brother, Phillip Haines of Manhattan Beach, California; 7 grandchildren, Layne and Quinn Pendleton, Brian, Amanda, and Tyler Montgomery, Ben and Sam Borszcz; and a whole bunch of good friends and critters. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Pam Bloch.

She was a member of Columbia United Church of Christ and a former member of the Celebration Bells Choir.

The family wishes to thank Dr. R. Wade Schondelmeyer and the wonderful nurses in ICU at Boone Hospital Center.

Per Sandi’s wishes, memorials are suggested to the Columbia United Church of Christ Bell Choir.
