Missouri volleyball defeats North Florida, Virginia Tech on first day of Tiger Invitational

COLUMBIA — The Missouri volleyball team started its season with two non-conference wins on the first day of the Tiger Invitational at the Hearnes Center on Friday.

After beating North Florida 25-18, 25-17, 25-19 in the first match of the day, Missouri returned to the court later for a four-set victory over Virginia Tech, 25-22, 22-25, 25-19, 25-16.

Missouri, winner of the last four Tiger Invitationals, will face Nicholls State at 12:30 p.m. and No.23 Michigan at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Sophomore middle blocker Whitney Little had 23 kills and a team-best seven blocks and .571 hitting percentage, including 14 kills against the Hokies. Junior outside hitter Lisa Henning led the team with 28 kills and added 10 digs during the two games.
