COLUMBIA — Police are investigating the second reported home invasion in south Columbia in three days.
Monday's incident occurred in the 3500 block of Marquis Court.
According to a news release from the Columbia Police Department, a "college-aged" man was alone at his home,and heard pounding at his back door. Before he could answer, four male suspects broke down his back door and forced him to the floor. One suspect had a handgun.
According to the release, the suspects demanded that the man give them money and property. The four men left on foot through the back door after taking an undisclosed amount of money and property.
The victim was not injured, and no arrests have been made.
A second home invasion occurred Saturday at approximately 5:10 p.m. Officers were dispatched to The Grove apartment complex off Rock Quarry Road, after a reported home invasion robbery.
According to Columbia Police Officer Latisha Stroer, there were three residents and one non-resident present when someone began loudly knocking on the door. The suspects forced themselves into the home. One of the suspects was in possession of a gun.
Several valuable items were taken, but no injuries were reported.
