Texas A&M's 2012 season opener, which was initially scheduled to be played Thursday against Louisiana Tech, has been postponed because of Hurricane Isaac.
The game, which was to be played at Independence Stadium in Shreveport, La., has been rescheduled for Oct. 13, an open date for both teams.
Louisiana Tech athletic director Bruce Van de Velde cited concerns about the safety of the athletes and fans as reason for the postponement.
Texas A&M will now open its season Sept. 8 at home against No. 23 Florida. Louisiana Tech will also play Sept. 8, when it travels to take on Houston.
