COLUMBIA– A Columbia man received deployment orders Monday night to report to Louisiana to assist with Hurricane Isaac, according to Gale Blomenkamp, public information officer for the Boone County Fire Protection District.

Dave Weber, a volunteer and structural engineer with Missouri Task Force 1, will travel with urban search-and-rescue teams to inspect buildings and determine whether they are structurally sound before rescue personnel enter, Blomenkamp said.

Les Crews, a Missouri Task Force 1 member from St. Louis, also received his deployment orders Monday night, Blomenkamp said. Crews will coordinate with state and local rescue efforts as an urban search-and-rescue specialist, Blomenkamp said.

Blomenkamp said he doesn't expect any more members of Missouri Task Force 1 to be deployed to help with rescue efforts related to Hurricane Isaac.
