COLUMBIA —The National Hurricane Center late Wednesday forecasted the center of Isaac to track near Columbia this weekend, and forecasters with the National Weather Service put the chance of rain Friday night into Saturday between 70 and 80 percent.

Scott Truett of the weather service station in St. Louis said rain for mid-Missouri appears to be a certainty, barring any major shifts in the storm system.

Truett said the rain could move in at any time Friday afternoon, becoming steady and then moderate to heavy at times Friday night into Saturday.

Two to four inches of rain is likely in Columbia, Truett said, with higher amounts possible.

Truett said there is a 50 percent chance the rain will still be falling at the 6 p.m. kickoff of Missouri's first football game of the season on Saturday against Southeastern Louisiana.
