A recent Hickman High School graduate was in serious condition Friday with a broken leg and ribs after a collision on Highway 54 in Callaway County.

Dylan Dooling, 18, was a passenger in a 2005 GMC Yukon driven by Chelsie Turner, 17, of Hartsburg. The accident occurred at 8:45 p.m. Thursday about a mile north of Hiller's Creek, Sgt. Paul Reinsch with Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

Charles E. Smith, 26, of Jefferson City lost control of his westbound 2006 Ford Mustang, swerved to avoid another vehicle and crossed the median, hitting Turner's car, Reisch said.

Smith was taken to Jefferson City with moderate injuries, and Turner had minor injuries. All three people involved in the accident were wearing seat belts.

Dooling was taken to University Hospital and said he has three broken bones in his leg, as well as a broken ankle and fractured ribs.

He graduated from Hickman in May and now attends Westminster College in Fulton.
