COLUMBIA—A man stole an undisclosed amount of money from the Petro Mart Convenience Store at 3850 Range Line St. on Monday night, according to a Columbia Police Department news release.

The man, who covered his face with a white cloth, tried to take a wallet from a customer before turning to the clerk and demanding money from the register, according to the news release.

He did not show or mention a weapon, the report said, but he kept his hand under his shirt to suggest that he was armed. He was last seen running south behind Landmark Bank.
