COLUMBIA — Nell Elizabeth Gardner-Roderick, 79, of Columbia, passed away Monday, September 3, 2012 at 2:05 p.m. with her family by her side.

A visitation will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 West, Columbia. A Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday September 7, 2012 at Evangelical Free Church, 600 Silvey Street, Columbia. The burial will follow at Columbia Cemetery located at 30 East Broadway.

Nell was born September 14, 1932 to Ben A. and Nell M. Blaser of Columbia. She was a 1950 Hickman High Graduate who then attended Stephens College. On April 25, 1952 Nell married Jesse Fay Gardner, they were married 53 years until his death. In 2011 she married Lieutenant Colonel Edward E. Roderick. Nell was an active member of Evangelical Free Church and devoted Christian who enjoyed music and spending time with her family.

Two sisters; Jane Rosenbloom of St. Louis and Ann Collins of Fulton, Missouri preceded her in death.

Mrs. Gardner-Roderick leaves to cherish her memory Ed Roderick, one son, Stephen Gardner of Columbia, two daughters, Melinda Gardner of Columbia and Barbara Sears and her husband Michael Sears of Ownesville, three grandchildren; Amber Sears, Austin Sears and Shannon Gardner, a great granddaughter Gabrielle Sears and other loving relatives and friends.
