Police arrest suspect in Shell station robbery

COLUMBIA – Police have arrested a suspect in an armed robbery Sunday at a Shell Station at 904 I-70 Drive S.W.

Officers responded about 9 a.m. Thursday to information that the suspect was in the Parker Street and Northland Drive area. They found the man in a wooded area by the Bear Creek Trail and took him into custody without any incidents, according to a news release.

Mark L. Swickard, 31, of Columbia was arrested on suspicion of armed criminal action, first-degree robbery, felony stealing from a previous unrelated case and a warrant for a municipal traffic violation. Bond was not set for the robbery and armed criminal action charges. Bond for the felony stealing and traffic violations was set at $4500 and $150, respectively.
