COLUMBIA — Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a Friday morning robbery at Midwest Petroleum Phillips Convenience Store, 126 S. Providence Road.

According to a Columbia Police Department news release, police found Julio Guzman in the tunnels of the MKT Trail near Providence Road and Stewart Road.

Guzman was arrested on charges of first-degree robbery and bond has not yet been set.

The release reported this scenario:

A suspect took a six-pack of beer from the store's cooler and tried to leave the store without paying.

When the clerk approached him, the suspect said that he had a gun and would use it.
