Wayne Garrett, left, and Kenny Ridgway, MU Campus Facilities workers, help their colleagues put up a 153 square foot American flag between the MU Columns on Monday at Francis Quadrangle. Three flags have been put up for the Patriot Day Barbecue which will be taking place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 11. "It is kind of a thank you to MU veterans," said Donna Puleo, director of university events.
COLUMBIA — As the anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks approaches, the Columbia Missourian reviewed coverage from previous years.
You can download an e-book that profiles the work of Task Force 1, a first responders team that helped with search and rescue in the days after the attack.
Our package of coverage includes revisiting coverage from the first-year anniversary in 2002, as well as a guide for parents on how to talk to their children about the tragedy.
At 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in front of the Boone County Courthouse, members of Mid-Missouri Peaceworks and representatives of the religious community will host a gathering to reflect on the past 11 years and look forward to the future.
