Nick Garst lifts his boat, decoy bag and gun out of the bed of his truck Monday evening at Eagle Bluffs Conservation Area. Garst, a junior at MU, hunts fowl as often as he can during the school year.

Nick Garst, an MU junior, was one of several hunters hoping to find teal in Eagle Bluffs Conservation Area on Monday. He was out of luck, though, as the birds failed to appear.

Nick Garst unzips his camouflaged case to get his gun ready to shoot while hunting teal Monday evening. Garst waited for more than an hour, but no birds came his way.
Decoys float in the ankle deep water at Eagle Bluffs Conservation Area while Nick Garst scouts the field for teal hiding in the grass. Teal season opened in Missouri on Saturday.
