RIDGEWAY — Authorities say the death of a 28-year-old northwest Missouri woman is considered suspicious.

A passer-by found the body of Brooke Peery Whitney on Sunday in a field in rural Ridgeway, in Harrison County.

Sheriff Josh Eckerson said investigators are awaiting autopsy and toxicology results before deciding whether the death was a homicide. He said no other details will be released until the test results are available.

The St. Joseph News-Press reported that Whitney last lived in Mercer County, but she had recently lived in Bethany and Cainsville.

She is survived by three children.
