LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Claire McCaskill represents working families

In these tough economic times, the minimum wage is more important than ever. It ensures that certain employers don't take advantage of workers and it allows hard-working families a sense of stability and dignity.

We need representation in Washington that will protect the minimum wage. The race to be Missouri's Senator offers a clear contrast on this issue. Claire McCaskill has consistently been on the side of Missouri's working families, protecting the minimum wage, while Todd Akin has campaigned to abolish it. When asked, Todd Akin did not even know what the current minimum wage is. He's repeatedly said that he would get rid of the minimum wage and that it is wrong.

Todd Akin has proven that his views are too far out of the mainstream for Missouri's working families. Claire McCaskill has proven she is on our side, and I strongly believe we need her to keep fighting for Missouri's families in the Senate.
