COLUMBIA — Deputies arrested Douglas Nix Jr. in connection with a Sunday home invasion on Demaret Drive.

A man forced his way into a residence in the 700 block of Demaret Drive in east Columbia on Sunday afternoon, according to a news release from the Boone County Sheriff's Department.

The man, who was known to the male resident, threw a punch at the resident and then fled the scene, according to Detective Tom O'Sullivan.

According to the release, the man later called the resident and tried to convince him not to contact police.

The resident was not injured, and nothing was taken from the home, O'Sullivan said.

Nix was arrested on charges of first-degree burglary, third-degree assault, tampering with a victim of a felony and second-degree property damage.

Supervising editor is Jacob Kirn.
