VOTERS GUIDE 2012: Candidates for county collector race in Audrain County

County Collector

What’s the job? – The Audrain County Collector of Revenue is in charge of collecting property taxes for the county. The collector is also responsible for the accounting, organization and distribution of taxes collected. The collector is the chief administrator of the tax office. Collectors also provide tax payment processing services and maintain public tax records.

KATE BECKER (R), Mexico

Personal: Age 29. She is married to Ross Becker.

Party affiliation: Republican

Occupation: She is a former contractor for the Missouri National Guard.

Education: Masters of business in accountancy at University of St. Thomas.

Background: Recipient of Mayor’s Award for the Arts; civic recognition award for sitting on the Community Police Advisory board; two awards from undergrad alma mater for grant writing and the Joint Citizen’s Law Enforcement Certificate. She is a member of the Mexico Chamber of Commerce, Farm Bureau, National Wild Turkey Federation, Young Farmers and St. Brendan’s Catholic Church.

HEATHER CLUBB-WAGNER (D), Rush Hill

Personal: Age 36. She is married and has a 14-year-old daughter, Mikyla.

Education: Attended Cottey College in Nevada, Mo.

Background: She served on the board of directors for the ACCIS crisis center, served as treasurer for the Mexico Area Elks Lodge and is currently an Elks Lodge member. She serves as the treasurer and a project leader for the Audrain County 4-H. She is an active participant in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, a volunteer for the Salvation Army and wife to a full-time farmer.
