Raymond Edward Lee, Sept. 24, 1919-Sept. 19, 2012, of Columbia

Raymond Edward Lee, 92, of Columbia passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, September 19, 2012.

Visitation will be Sunday, September 23, 2012 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel with Masonic Rites. Services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors.

Raymond was born September 24, 1919 in Boone County to Charles Arthur and Emma Wilson Lee. Mr. Lee married Lavenia Ann Stone on March 9, 1940 and they enjoyed 69 years of marriage before she passed away on October 5, 2009.

Raymond was a veteran of World War II serving in the European Theater with the 102nd Infantry Division and took part in the Battle of the Bulge. After the war ended, he was part of the Army of Occupation in Germany. Upon his discharge in 1946 as a Staff Sergeant, he returned to Columbia and worked for many years for both MFA Oil and Phillips 66 in the distribution of petroleum products in rural Boone County.  He also worked for the Boone County Planning and Zoning Commission and was instrumental in the naming of many of the rural roads in the county. His last occupation was as a Bailiff of the Boone County Circuit Court. Mr. Lee was a long time member of Acacia Lodge of the Masonic Order, Thilo Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, and Scottish Rite. He was also a many year member of both American Legion Post 202 and V.F.W. Post 280.

He is survived by two sons, Charles Norris Lee and wife Carol of Columbia and Donald Ray Lee and wife Dinah of Phoenix, Arizona.  Also surviving are grandchildren John Charles Lee (Cecilia) of Columbia, James Edward Lee (Christy) of Centralia, Michael Anthony Lee (Wendy) of North Carolina, Christy Lynne Confar (Thomas) of California, and Brian Christopher Lee of Phoenix, Arizona; seven great grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews and one brother, Alfred Wilson Lee of Columbia.

Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Lloyd Thomas Lee and James Norton Lee; two sisters, Beulah Mae Gilpin and Anna Blanche Davis, and one great grandson, US Army Specialist Zane Thompson Lee who passed away on July 8, 2012.
