Missouri softball opens fall season with pair of wins

The stage might be bigger but that didn't seem to matter to Missouri's Emily Crane. The freshman went 6-for-8 with three doubles to lead the Tigers to a doubleheader sweep Friday for the opening of their fall schedule.

Missouri beat Columbia College 7-0 in the opener before beating Highland Community College 7-3.

Redshirt senior Chelsea Thomas pitched the first game, throwing 65 pitches in a complete game shutout. She allowed one hit, didn't walk a batter and struck out nine.

Crane had three hits in both games. She batted leadoff in the first game and scored two runs.

The Tigers will play another doubleheader next Friday.
