COLUMBIA—Three people were shot and another person was assaulted during a disturbance north of Columbia early Saturday morning, Detective Tom O'Sullivan of the Boone County Sheriff's Department said.

Deputies from the Sheriff's Department were dispatched to the 5900 block of Gregory Drive around 1:30 a.m. Saturday. A man, 24, and a woman, 22, were found with gunshot wounds, O'Sullivan said. Officers from the Columbia Police Department later found a 27-year-old man with gunshot wounds in a parked car on Lawnridge Drive. The victim is believed to have been shot at the Gregory Drive disturbance, O'Sullivan said. A third man, 21, told deputies he had been physically assaulted during the disturbance.

The 21-year-old man and 22-year-old woman were both released from the hospital around 9 a.m. Saturday after receiving treatment for minor injuries. The other men suffered life-threatening injuries and remained hospitalized Saturday afternoon. O'Sullivan said he could not release the identities of the victims or the name of the hospital.

Deputies are searching for Christopher Dwayne Brown in connection with the shooting, O'Sullivan said. Brown is described as a 27-year-old black male who is 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs about 300 pounds.

Officers are asking anyone with information on Brown's whereabouts to contact CrimeStoppers at 875-TIPS. A reward is being offered for information that leads to Brown's capture.
