Frederick Dale Lewis, age 70 of Columbia, passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at his home.

Fred was born on April 8, 1942 in Fulton, Missouri, the son of the late Leonard and Ima Jean Lewis. He was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Dulle on April 16, 1966.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Lewis; sisters, Sharon Wiser of Columbia, Debbie Tomlin and husband Larry of Columbia, Sandra Wentz of Springfield, Illinois, and Lisa Lewis of St. Louis; brother, Robert Joseph Lewis and wife Carolyn of Greenville, South Carolina; nephews, Ted Wentz, John Wentz and wife Shannon, Aaron Lewis and wife Heather and Brandon Lewis and niece, Katie Lewis; four great-nephews; and one great-niece.

Fred was a 1960 graduate of Hickman High School. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Wichita, Kansas. Fred was a great fisherman and fished in the B.A.S.S. and Red Man Circuit Tournaments. He won the National Yamaha Fishing Tournament in November 1992. He was the 10th generation of the Lewis Family.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 28, 2012 from 7-9 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home starting with a prayer service at 7 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors.
