Saint Andrew's Evangelical Lutheran Church will be celebrating the completion of its recent renovation project in a dedication service at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30. “Music on the Portico” in the afternoon will feature award-winning singer-songwriter Hilary Scott, performing along with Saint Andrew's musicians. Scott’s style, featuring piano, guitar and violin, has been characterized as indie-rock, folk-rock, pop and blues.

In addition to the dedication service and weekly worship services at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Sept. 30, the day’s festivities will also include an open house from 12:30 to 3 p.m. to showcase the renovated building as well as the congregation’s community outreach programs. The celebration will also include refreshments and children’s activities (including a bounce house).

"Saint Andrews wanted to expand and improve its facilities for the congregation, improve its ministry to others, and increase its presence in the community," said Saint Andrew's Church Council President Larry Leip.

The renovation project included making all church entrances and restrooms ADA accessible, replacing the roof, updating heating and cooling systems, repairing foundation settlement, creating a safer driveway to the building, and adding space for worship and fellowship. Additionally, carpets were replaced, and volunteers reupholstered each of the chairs in the Centrum (worship space) by hand.

“For five years, the congregation and staff at Saint Andrews worked toward this moment, always knowing ‘It's all about the building.’ Now that our physical structure has been brought out of its nestled home in the trees right onto West Blvd., we are excited to be a bright, visible presence in our community. We are committed to developing our many ministries and building new ones with all those in the community looking for a spiritual home,” said former Church Council President Melanie Drury.

For over 50 years, Saint Andrews has been serving Christ in the Columbia community. The congregation looks forward to doing God’s work not only in this new building, but also expanding work in the surrounding Columbia community. To learn more about Saint Andrews work in the community, visitors will have the opportunity to talk with representatives from each ministry team during the open house on Sept. 30.

The Saint Andrews congregation also welcomes everyone to worship services at 6:30 on Saturday evenings and 8:30 and 11 a.m. on Sunday mornings. Sunday school for all ages begins at 9:45 a.m.
